Our goal is to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ.
The enriching experience of being part of a church is not just highlighted on Sundays-
it’s a daily adventure, best explored alongside others who will offer you support and encouragement.
As you take a look around we hope that you would be drawn to embrace the true essence of community.
We’re here for you in love and service, and we’d love to be a part of your journey.

We are The Good Shepherd Baptist Church.

We’d love for you to become part of the family!

We are hosting a free summer kids’ event called Roar VBS, where kids discover that God is good even when life gets wild! Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, enjoy a yummy dinner, experience one-of-a-kind Wild Bible Adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with the Safari Celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned.

The GSBC Community Yard Sale has become a real Community Event.  It was started as a way to give those in Trailer Parks a way to have a Yard Sale, which most Trailer Parks prohibit.  Depending on how the first yard sale went was going to determine if we would continue our planned “Once a Year” event.
As it turned out, it was such a huge success, that the Community asked us to hold it twice a year, and so we have.
Our Yard Sale is held the first weekend in June and the last weekend in September, on the Saturday, from 8 am – 2 pm.  Setup usually begins at 7 am.
We ask for a donation of only $5.00 per table/space.
We have limited tables on a first come first served basis, or you can bring your own.
We usually have donuts and coffee in the morning and a food outlet during the day.
We advertise in several local papers, on local radio, social media, this web site, as well as posters hung in many local establishments who support our goals.
What do we get out of the deal?
We get to meet the great people in our community and you get to know us in a non-threatening, no pressure way.  We get to share our facility with you, and show the Love of Jesus without preaching or teaching, just meeting and greeting, in an inviting way, with no strings attached – Guaranteed!!!
So come out to buy, come out to sell, or just come out to browse and grab a bite to eat.
It’s a great time!  See you there!

Donate per space/table here or at the event

Verse of the Day 6/25/2019

Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the LORD. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the LORD. — Jeremiah 23:24 (NIV)

Mommy Lessons

By: Ria Lucindo

I told myself I will write a non-mommy related article this week. Surely, God is teaching me in other areas of my life too. But this past week, I am consistently learning something valuable and so memorable that I cannot make myself write anything else. So, here it goes.

Lessons from God this Summer: Control Freak gets Humbled

by: Erika Mendoza
Youth Camp 2016
I confidently came into summer 2016 with a great feeling that for once, I felt as though my life was together and I thought I had a control on it. However, I was not expecting a turnover so quickly. My summer consisted of Father-daughter time with God, bonding with family, serving my youth group, and work. For the most part, I had a pretty set schedule that scarcely stressed me out. I was also given the privilege to become a leader for my youth group and after asking God, He told me to go for it. I am beyond thankful for this blessing because when I reminisce about this summer, I see how God faithfully shaped me into that leader He wanted me to be and that I did not expect. And that’s the beauty of a growing relationship with God, you will become more and more like Him and not just you, but other people will see God’s glorious work.

Out Of Rhythm

By: Shiela Bernardo
Walking CadenceIt is challenging to be taken out of your regular routine, especially if you have worked so precisely to maintain structure in your day. It’s like scattering matches out of its box, you feel like you are just all over the place and need to gather your composure and organize your thoughts before you can take on the day.

From Fear To Faith

By: Shiela Bernardo
God is the Maker of all things and by that very nature, He also makes all things new.  God opens up doors that weren’t there before.  Often, we retreat to the thought of the unknown.  We go back to our own little comfort zones.  If you’ve been where you’re at with no evident progress, reconsider if maybe you’ve stunted your growth in resisting change.

I often get lost in my responsibilities. Every waking minute I’m preoccupied with a mental list of items that have to be done in the limited time frame I’m given in a day. It doesn’t sound too bad. In fact, this preoccupation with productivity seems normal in a society built around the ticking of a clock. However, I fear that in the pursuit of productivity we can lose sight of what truly matters to God.

Going on a vacation takes a lot of planning – from booking flights, hotels, and rental cars, to packing stuff – not just what you will wear, but the gear and supplies you will need. Learning plenty of information about the trip by reading and listening to other people’s experiences prove helpful.

Compelling Fire

By:  Shiela Bernardo

God supplies a compelling fire inside each one of us. It is the reason why we move forward, determined to get past all obstacles along the way. It is the motivation to act even if you have to go against the grain and encounter a lot of opposition.

Please Reach It

By: Shiela Bernardo

Just when I start to think that my prayers hit the ceiling, God brings a breeze of fresh air and makes His presence known at a very personal level. I have been praying all week for God to encourage me. Perhaps it is my limited vision scope, but sometimes it does feel like nothing is happening albeit the countless persistent prayers I bring to God’s ears unceasingly. Truth be told, He is working whether I see it or not.

Erika Mendoza’s Testimony

ErikaThrough God’s grace, He saved me from worldly desires, false hopes, and myself—and the best part is that He gave me a new life because He forgave and loves me even though I’ve sinned.

Sowing and Reaping:  It implies the start and end state, yet much of the activity happens in between. Sometimes, it requires some more tilling, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and a whole host of labor. But it is in this season that, as we anticipate growth of what we’ve planted, we ourselves can grow too in the process.

A Divine Nudge

friends-fingersOne of the ways that God shows His presence to me is through those that He surrounds me with. I am so thankful for them but before I go further I have to admit that I have the tendency to be very independent in my thoughts and actions.

The Measure of Success

A short story by Ria Lopez
“I can’t believe this showed up today”! Garrett pulled a gray hair sticking out from the top of his head. He has been getting ready for this reunion for months. After all, he expects former classmates and friends to measure up with the class valedictorian like himself. Exiting the passenger boarding bridge, he made sure he looked sharp. This is not Facebook after all and this is such a small town.

The Goal of Ministry

DSC06245Ministry is an overflow of God’s love that is demonstrated by service to others. There’s intentionality in meeting people where they are at and ushering them into a relationship with Jesus Christ. But it is only effective when you start with God. He is the One who empowers and enables you to be a spring of blessing for others. It is very much an inward process of filling up the heart before any outward expression occurs.
Ministry is never one-dimensional nor should it ever be. It’s not just evidence of elbow grease for the sake of busyness – it’s more meaningful than that. It is relational and personal in nature. As J.R. Briggs puts it: “Faithful ministry isn’t a project. Ministry is people. The administrative elements of ministry should only be tools that lead us to building relationships with others.”   It calls for compassion as you work out peeling away the layers of people’s instinctive barriers. It is a continual commitment to stand by a person, waiting for them to become receptive to what you are teaching or sharing. It is discipleship in action.
DSC06296It may sound as though it requires much from you. And so often we find ourselves wrung out of energy and we reason out that we don’t have the time to commit to something that will pull us away from our already beefed-up schedules. But every burnt out soul needs refreshing. And in Proverbs 11:25, it says: A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.   So inspect closely the order of your priorities. See if there are any honest opportunities to re-align them, because there is truly nothing more fulfilling than taking part in the work that God is doing through people and toward people.
There are many opportunities from where you’re standing. Go ahead, and look around you. Ministry can purposefully be accomplished in the home, in church, in school, in your place of work. Wherever your mission field is, you are to display and magnify the very character of Christ in your interactions with people.

Every believer is called to ministry. And every ministry should be doing The Great Commission.  This, below, is the goal of ministry. Are you on point?

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age – (Matthew 28: 19-20).
Every believer heard about Christ’s offer of salvation from another person.  It could be from a friend, a family member, an evangelist, a missionary, or even a stranger, who at one point they had shared a conversation with, and planted the seed. Think about that person who God used in your own life to come to know Christ. Just as we were recipients of this life-changing blessing, we as a church also support several outlets of blessing to spread the gospel locally and in the far corners of the globe.

They are as follows:

  • Truth Helpers – a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Tom Berry that sends support to a school in Haiti and a bible school in Romania;
  • Timothy Initiative – an international church planting organization with the purpose of training pastors and church planters specifically in Nepal, India, and Africa;
  • International Ministries (Missionary Duane Binkley) – one of the first Baptist mission agency in the USA that started in Myanmar and has now active missionaries in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas;
  • Crossover World – a non-profit organization ministering to Filipino children ages 4-14 and sharing the gospel using the basketball paradigm;
  • Kapatid Ministry – a Philippine-based non-profit organization ministering to impoverished families, children whose parents work abroad, and also to prison inmates in Iwahig Penal Colony in Palawan;
  • Delaware Baptist Association – a local group of Baptist churches aimed at strengthening each other while supporting church planting efforts; and
  • Baptist Convention of Maryland and Delaware – a group of Baptist churches from MD and DE, who are working together on ministries such as missions work, disaster relief, ministry training and support, church development, and evangelism.

It is through these kind of ministries that the good news circulate to people groups of countless areas of the world that we wouldn’t otherwise physically travel to.  But we are able to take part in the sending of missionaries, and in Romans 10:15 we read:  And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”  Perhaps some of them are extraordinary people, but most likely they are just regular people like the rest of us. Surely, the apostles were not that special by human standards. But God uses people like us to share His love and to do extraordinary things with eternal value. Everyday, He blesses us with the resources and strength to empower us to do His important commission. So let’s make sure that these blessings trickle down to others just like it did for us.
